The MSU PhD in Counseling program prepares individuals to work as faculty and administrators in colleges and universities; advanced clinicians and supervisors in mental health agencies and private practice; consultants; and school and agency leaders. Our program affords students a unique, student-centered doctoral program experience:
The PhD in Counseling Program is accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) and builds on their national accreditation standards for master’s-level counseling programs. It is assumed that PhD applicants have already completed a master’s degree in counseling which included coursework from all core areas required by CACREP (including practicum and internship). Check out our PhD website to view our admissions requirements and more.
