MLK Day of service 2019

Join us on Saturday, February 9, 2019, in honor of civil rights activist Martin Luther King Jr.’s lifelong dedication to justice, equality, and service for the greater good.

Service Projects (The list will continue to be updated as more service sites are confirmed!)

  • Canterbury Village - Canterbury Village is an assisted living residence providing quality care.  Volunteers will be assisting with the daily functions.
  • Cerebral Palsy of North Jersey - Volunteers will engage in active, recreational activities with the adult students, so dress comfortably!
  • Covenant House (both Nancy's Place and Rights of Passage) - Volunteers will tidy up the common areas and kitchen facilities in the Rights of Passage supportive living apartments, providing a clean and comforting environment for young people transitioning from homelessness, as they work, save money and learn how to live on their own.
  • MedShare - Volunteers will sort and package medical supplies to be shipped.
  • Job Haines - This is a retirement home so the students will be working with the activities director and doing activities with the residents. 
  • KinderSmile - We are always looking for a helping hand! As for the activities, handing out flyers with information about our services, packing toothbrushes for offsite visits, fundraising to raise awareness to send thousands of toothbrushes to Puerto Rico Dental Association, creating posters and flyers and more!
  • Arts Unbound - Hours: 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Volunteers will be moving supplies from a basement upstairs and sorting through them.
  • Boys and Girls Club of Clifton - Volunteers will be helping with bingo & STEM program assistance
  • Paterson School No. 20 - Volunteers are needed to brighten the hallways with murals, add a fresh coat of paint to teacher lounge walls, paint canvas murals, and create family-friendly kits to be donated to the school and local nonprofit partners.
  • 13th Ave. School in Newark - Volunteers are needed for general revitalization projects that may include cleaning and reorganizing the library and decorating bulletin boards in addition to creating family-friendly kits to be donated to local nonprofit partners.
  • Habitat for Humanity - ALL DAY SITE! 7:45 am - 3:30 pm (7.8 hours) Construction volunteers must be 16 years of age to be present on an active build site. Youth volunteers ages 16 or 17 years old must be accompanied by an adult and have a parent/guardian sign a printed copy of our volunteer waiver.
