Saxophone Recital and Masterclass: Lesi Mei + Todd Rewoldt

Join us for a saxophone masterclass and mini-recital with two top performers in the field.

The event is free and open to the public.

As required by Cali School policy, all attendees must wear masks and provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination.

LESI MEI
Classical pianist, who manifests dazzling virtuosity and stunning musicality the moment her fingers touch the keys. She was the first-call pianist for Beijing International Orchestra before traveling the U.S. from coast to coast, performing in such festivals as the Mostly Modern Festival in Saratoga Springs, International Keyboard Institute and Festival in New York City, and Olympiad Piano Festival in Colorado Springs, where she was a semifinalist in the concerto competition. Her performance diploma hails from the European Music Institute in Vienna, under the tutelage of esteemed Professor Martin Hughes. Other notable teachers she studied with include Peter Vinograde, Joyce Yang, Ilya Yakushev, Blair McMillen, Victor Rosenbaum, Jeffrey Swan, and Geoffrey Burleson. Lesi holds a Master of Music in Piano Performance from San Diego State University, a Master of Science in Exercise Physiology from Florida State University, and a Bachelor of Engineering in Biological Engineering from the Beijing Institute of Technology.

TODD REWOLDT
BM University of Toledo, MM and DMA Eastman School of Music. Saxophone studies with Alayne Rever, Russell Peterson, and Ramon Ricker. Co-founder of the SWARMIUS Ensemble, a first-call saxophonist with the San Diego Symphony, principal saxophonist with the San Diego Winds (2009-19), numerous invited performances with chamber music organizations Art of Elan, La Jolla Music Society, Tribeca New Music Festival, STET, Composer’s Concordance, NWEAMO, California Chamber Orchestra, Orchestra Nova, and others. Solo recitals at festivals and concert venues in Sweden, Germany, Italy, Mexico, Japan, Taiwan, Canada, Ireland, Australia, and throughout the United States. Recordings as soloist and with ensembles on Nonesuch, Aleppo, Warner Bros, and Composer’s Concordance labels. Author of “Altissimo Studies for Alto” and “Tenor Saxophone,” arrangements of music by Lili Boulanger and Pierre Rode (RC EDITIONS). Todd is a Selmer Artist and performs on Selmer saxophones exclusively.
