Dr. Baldi holds advanced degrees in Classics, Archival Sciences, and Library Sciences from prestigious Italian universities. His research interests include library history, antiquarianism, private libraries, and the history of archaeology. Together with Dr. Chatr Aryamontri, an Italian-trained archaeologist of the ancient Roman world and a Classical scholar who has special interests in museum studies, he is conducting the first phase of a long-term project on the life and work of John Cotton Dana, a pioneer in the fields of library and museum practice. He served as director of the Newark Public Library and was the founder and first director of the Newark Museum in the early 20th century. John Cotton Dana today is considered one of the most influential figures in the democratization of education and cultural fruition as a means to fight social inequality and injustice.
