The free event will provide in-depth insights from two of the most prominent political commentators in the country on the presidential election. The pair will also discuss their newly released book, “The Man Who Ran Washington,” a biography of political power broker and US
Secretary of State James Baker III.

“The Man Who Ran Washington” chronicles both the life of one of America’s most influential political figures and the evolution of America’s Republican Party from one of fiscal conservatism to the populist incarnation of Donald Trump. Lauded by critics for their fascinating examination of history, politics, and power, Baker and Glasser provide a window into the man who served as Ronald Reagan’s Chief of Staff and advised close friend and political ally George Bush
throughout his political career.

Peter Baker is the chief White House correspondent for The New York Times, and has been responsible for covering four US presidents for both the Times and The Washington Post. He has covered some of the most important stories in American political history, including the
impeachment of Donald Trump, George W. Bush’s involvement in the Iraq War, and Ken Starr’s investigation of Bill Clinton. He has authored six books, including the most current release with Glasser, and is a political analyst on MSNBC.

A founder and editor of Politico Magazine, Susan Glasser is a staff writer for The New Yorker and scribes a weekly column on the President and Washington DC. She has also served in a range of roles for the Washington Post during her career, including as editor of Outlook and national news and co-Moscow Bureau chief along with Baker. She has authored of two books and serves as a global affairs analyst for CNN.
